Playful Memory
2018, Sainte Marguerite, Liege, Belgium
This senior housing project proposes a place that activates and trigger elders’ memory: spatial memory, the memory of childhoods, friends, outing, etc. Playful Memory aims to propose a dementia-friendly landscape in the form of a playful labyrinth that activates all the body’s senses to stimulate senior citizens’ memories.
Additionally, the landscape is connected to the neighborhood through a walkway. Rendering the project’s outdoor area as a central gathering space for the local community. The project is located up the hill where elders can have a view of the city of Liège, which, in addition to the playful labyrinth, can stimulate elders memory by triggering their spatial memories of the city.
